Dr Jake Pearson                 

MBCHB, BPhed (Hons), PG Dip Sports Med, FACSP                                                                                                                                    

 Jake is a specialist Sports Physician with a passion for sport and exercise.  Raised in Wellington, he completed a Bachelor of Physical Education (Hons) at Otago before going on to study medicine.  He returned to Wellington at the start of 2011, having completed his specialist training with a year in both Auckland and the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.  Jake has a particular interest in tendon injuries, however has good knowledge of all other aspects of sports and exercise medicine related issues, and gets a lot of satisfaction in helping active people recover from injury or illness and achieve their goals.

Jake is a recognised medical provider for the NZ Academy of Sport.  At various times he has provided medical coverage for the Counties Manukau NPC team, Wellington Phoenix, NZ Under 20 Football team, Wellington Pulse Netball, NZ Tall Blacks Basketball Team, Taekwon-Do and boxing events, Marist St Pats rugby club, and a number of triathlons and multi-sport events.  He is also a lecturer at the Wellington Medical School.

Jake has enjoyed participating in many sports and remains very active.  His passion is ITF Taekwon-Do and he has previously represented New Zealand at the World Championships in 2001.  Jake keeps active running, conditioning and in various other activities, and has participated in the Coast to Coast.
